Team utilisation calculator
Utilisation means two different things in one category. Agency tools usually mean billable hours turned into money. This one means hours logged against hours available, which is a smaller claim and a checkable one.

How to use it
Step 1
Enter hours your team logged for the period. Timesheet totals, not estimates.
Step 2
Enter hours the team had available. Run the capacity calculator first if leave and holidays have not come out yet.
Step 3
Read the percentage and its band. Idle, Low, Healthy, Stretched and Overloaded are reporting labels for a range.
Step 4
Two extra figures sit beside it: hours available that nobody logged against, and hours logged beyond what existed.
Questions people ask
Why does this never mention money?
Because how full a team is and what its time earned are two questions, and mixing them hides which one moved. PeopleMuster reports utilisation from logged hours, by project and by department, with the week-over-week trend beside it.
Can utilisation pass a hundred percent?
Yes, and it is worth looking at when it does. Logged hours beyond available hours means overtime, an understated capacity figure, or a timesheet booked to the wrong period.
Should leave come out of the available figure?
Yes. Dividing by gross hours makes every team with leave look underused, which is why the capacity calculator subtracts leave and holidays before this one divides.
