Experience certificate format
Experience certificates state what somebody did and for how long. A future employer, a visa office or a university admissions desk will read it.

Before you send it
- Print the signatory's email and phone. Verifiers call, and a certificate nobody can check is worth little.
- Give it a reference number so a future query can be traced.
- List every title held, with dates. Career progression is the thing a reader looks for.
- Write three real responsibilities. Job-description language wastes the space.
- Leave pay out of it entirely. A certificate is a record of service.
- Use letterhead and a stamp where your region expects one.
Questions people ask about this letter
What is the difference between an experience certificate and a relieving letter?
Purpose. An experience certificate describes the work and is written for the outside world. A relieving letter confirms the person was released cleanly and is written for the next employer's file. Many people need both.
Should an experience certificate mention salary?
Leave it out unless the person specifically asks and your policy allows it. Pay is private, the document travels widely, and most verifiers want dates and duties rather than a figure.
Can one be issued to someone who left on bad terms?
A factual certificate of service is normally still issued: dates, titles and duties, with the optional conduct sentence removed. Keep it neutral rather than pointed. A certificate is not the place to settle anything.
