Can I check in from home?
Self-serve check-in runs in a web browser and records no location of any kind. No coordinates, no map lookup, no address check. So the card works from a kitchen table exactly as it works from a desk, and the resulting record says when somebody checked in, never where they were.
The card writes a time and nothing else. So the record answers the question attendance exists for: when somebody started their day and when they finished it.
Where a company wants attendance tied to the office, the other path does that job. A fingerprint terminal on the office network records a punch from whoever stands in front of it.
The two paths sit side by side. One removes the hardware requirement; the other suits a team that works from one building. Both feed the same attendance record.
The card itself is bounded and simple. It needs a shift. It opens inside a window around that shift. It writes the real time. An administrator sets every edge of the window and can switch the whole thing off.
Reports read the same whichever path a person used. Lateness, working hours and the on-time rate all come from the times written, against the same assigned shift.
The card is off until an administrator turns it on. The master setting ships false, so a new tenant has no self-serve check-in at all until somebody deliberately enables it.
Decide what the record is for before choosing a path. Where the question is when somebody started, the browser card answers it. Where the question is whether somebody was in the building, it does not.

Do I need to install anything?
No. The card is part of the web dashboard and opens in the browser you already use.
Does the product check my network or address?
No. No geolocation, no coordinates and no network-based location check exists anywhere in the check-in path, including in the settings behind it.
Can an administrator switch it off again?
Yes, and an optional expiry timestamp can switch it off automatically on a chosen date. Leaving the expiry empty means it stays on until somebody changes the setting.
