How does PeopleMuster connect to a ZKTeco terminal?

By the terminal's IP address on your local network. PeopleMuster pulls new punches over TCP port 4370 every 30 minutes on weekdays. Nothing is installed on the device, and the terminal doesn't have to push anything: PeopleMuster fetches the punches itself.

How are ZKTeco device users matched to employees?

On the attendance user-mapping screen. Each row pairs a system user with a device user and shows when the pair was made. The counts show total mappings, device users and anyone still unmapped, and Refresh Device reads the terminal's user list again.

What does PeopleMuster store from each punch?

Three things: the device user ID, the device serial and the punch time. Fingerprints stay on the terminal, so PeopleMuster receives only who punched and when. From there you get on-time rate, late minutes, partial days and a working-hours histogram.
