How do I update my profile?

Editing your own profile basics is part of the baseline every account keeps, described in the product as not a permission and not removable. The profile splits across three tabs covering personal information, professional details and skills. Employment facts such as your role and reporting line are maintained on the HR side instead.

Which fields a person owns and which the company owns is the whole of this answer.

Personal details belong to the person. An address, a contact number, a marital status or a blood group changes without HR needing to approve it, and requiring a ticket for each would guarantee the record goes stale.

Employment facts belong to the company. A job title, a department, a reporting line and a joining date are decisions somebody made, and a person editing their own title would break the directory and the org chart at the same time.

The reporting line is the clearest case. The org chart is drawn from the reports-to field, so that one field decides the shape of the whole hierarchy. Self-service on it would be chaos.

The skills tab sits between the two. Skills are drawn from a taxonomy the company maintains, running to eighty-one skills across ten categories in one instance, and a person maps themselves against it rather than inventing entries.

A completion score sits on the profile as a prompt. Not a requirement, and not a scored assessment of anything: a nudge towards the empty fields.

Every edit is written to the activity log with the old value and the new one, which is what makes a disputed change answerable later.

Active sessions are on the profile too and are not an editable field. Each session can be signed out from there, which is the thing to reach for after using a shared or borrowed machine.

Fill the professional tab before the personal one if you are new. Skills and reporting information feed the directory and the org chart, which are what colleagues use to find you.

Can I change my job title?

No. Employment facts including title, department and reporting line are maintained on the HR side, because the directory and org chart are built from them.

What is the profile completion score?

A prompt towards unfilled fields. It is not a requirement, a rating or an assessment, and nothing depends on reaching a particular figure.

Can I sign out of a session on another device?

Active sessions are listed on the profile and can be ended from there, which is worth doing after using a borrowed machine.
